What's All This About Kissing? Layout Posterbadass: Asagi Shougo Layout Inspiration: I fell in love with Shougo the first time I saw the X movie. Now he's in Reservoir Chronicle (a.k.a. Tsubasa) kicking major ass, and the MOMENT I saw him posing like that... *drool* The scans are courtesy of the wonderful Rachel. Layout Lyrics: The "Underdog" theme song. If you never saw Underdog, go rent it, because it was a hell of a fun cartoon.

This time last week, I was on my way to Shoujocon. And today, very shortly, I will be on my way to the dentist's.
Karma, maybe.
(I know I'm desperately behind in bloggage, but I'm waiting on a new layout. If AIM will ever LET ME FINISH A CONVERSATION.)
I only got to take pictures of two of them this morning (well, two and the lovely red underrobe with the pink collar, which you can sort of just see in both of them), and I haven't learned how to tie the obi I actually own yet, but: White kimono (close-up, dye-and-embroidery design at the bottom) Black kimono (close-up, design at the bottom)
The only thing I find sort of weird is that the black one is so long it drags on the ground when I walk. Which, y'know, is bizarre when you're as tall as I am.
Serendipity-doo-daaaah~...
So, last night we were supposed to go up to Maine as a family for the weekend and watch my dad participate in a bike race.
We get to the airport and every flight north of New York has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Everything on Saturday was booked solid.
So, we head out of the airport, have a huge dinner, and go home. I find an email from the UPS guys that says my kimono are shipping, and I click on the little tracking link.
The page tells me they've already been delivered. That's funny, I think, I didn't see any boxes.
So I go downstairs--really late at night--and open the front door. And there's my HUGE-ASS BOX of kimono, just like Christmas in August. ^_______^
Photos later, oh yes indeedy. When I stop beaming like an idiot. ^____^
¬.¬
Weird: a lot of people who've met me under cosplaying circumstances and therefore knew me as Subaru-kun before they knew to start calling me Lisa refer to me as "he" and "him".
It makes me wonder how many people I could fool if I didn't have clearly visible boobage in that costume. XD
^_^
I now have teh paid account on LiveJournal--which means that the check I sent out on the same day as the LJ check, the one that's financing the huge additions to my kimono collection, should be arriving today. Meaning the huge package itself should be here next week or so.
EeeeEEEEEEEEEeeee.
So yeah. Yesterday I went to a yaoi party with Miki (and several straight guys. God, I love fandom), and we sat around with beer (and me with my baby-b00ze, aka Mike's Hard Lemonade) and pizza and watched guys going at it. The amount of SoulCrushingAngst in "Song of Wind and Trees"... just... I mean, jeez, all they need is for someone to have weird powers and this series has the entire CLAMP/Utena/Yami canon beat. o_O
Also, I got a happy referral: i love you lisa. Thank you! I, uh, think I love you too. (Though if you're my TR stalker, for goodness sakes, just email me already and let me know who you are.)
but youth, of course, must have its fling...
So, Britain has a new amendment to its juvenile-sex law passing through Parliament this week. The current law, according to The Economist, criminalises sex or "indecency" with anyone under sixteen (even if it's consensual and the other person is also sixteen or under), and the amendment is expanding it to include "sexual touching", which includes snuggling with clothes on and kissing.
Now, I know this is meant to protect children from pedophiles and abusers, and that's a really damn good intention. However, phrasing it so loosely that it makes normal teenage dating behaviour among teenagers of the same age a criminal offence... well, it inspired me to go drag out my Gilbert and Sullivan Anthology and find something similarly ludicrous:
Our great Mikado, virtuous man,
When he to rule our land began,
Resolved to try a plan whereby
Young men might best be steadied:
So he decreed, in words succinct,
That all who flirted, leered, or winked,
Unless connubially linked,
Should forthwith be beheaded.
*random*
You know, I've often thought how cool it would be to run a fansubbing-type operation that distributed anime soundtracks instead of fansubs. You get two or three people amassing a huge amount of OSTs that aren't widely available at cons anymore, and then someone sends them, like, $2 for shipping (like in the days of VHS distro. My god, I miss VHS distro so bad) and gets the CD and maybe a xerox of the liner notes.
Probably not the best idea I've ever had, but it could work with stuff that's out of print/rare/goes for over $50 at cons. Man, does that piss me off.
Anyways--am now fed up with Bravenet because it now only shows me my last 10 referrals, as opposed to my last 50. If anyone can recommend a better counter, I'll be in your debt.
Also, I am happy because I have vintage kimono on their way to me, and a fantabulous mama, and a page's worth of work on TR. Progress! It feels good!
spazzmonkey?
(Everyone who's had to deal with me over the past couple of days--man, I am so sorry. I haven't really been myself lately. I'm feeling a lot better now, though.)
So, aside from waiting for it to be the 22nd (goddammit, Pioneer, X6! I CRAVE LIKE BRAINMEATS)--last night I went to the first meeting of the puppeteering program. I'm the youngest person there, the only one who hasn't worked in teaching, and the only one who doesn't have children. But the puppets are cool, and the other volunteers are really, really sweet. They even put up with me making an Exorcist joke.
Also, I have vinyl pants and an invitation to go to a yaoi party. These two things could be terribly, terribly dangerous in combination. Heh heh heh. :D
yarrr
And now I'm so glad I have my little wooden sword. Mom and dad took me to go see Pirates of the Carribbean last night.
Damn, for a movie based on a theme park ride, it's really good. And it's even better if you take a water bottle and splash the people next to you. XD
For some reason, though, we didn't get the preview for The Haunted Mansion. The production sketches and set photos for that one look absolutely gorgeous (it looks a lot more like the haunted chateau at Euro Disney, which gave me the creepy-crawlies worse than either of the American versions of the Mansion).
And, for some reason, the production sketches for HM keep making me think that one of these days, if I get Serious Cash, I want to hire the set designers from that movie make me a house like that. I'd NEVER SLEEP AGAIN, but damn would it be a beautiful house.
