And I completely forgot I set myself the New Years' deadline for Tabula Rasa. So today, I do Sidestory B and Chapter 10, both, to ensure that it's at least out of the way.
People should, like, start a betting pool on fanauthors. "Five bucks says [author A] finishes HER chapter before [author B]!" XD
Second--so, okay, I have weaknesses for odd kinds of music. And every so often I go on this violin binge. And one song I really, really love is "The Devil's Trill".
So I downloaded eight different versions.
Yeah. Eight. #1: Anne-Sophie Mutter. The longest at sixteen and a half minutes, and also the best. She uses a violin with a deeper voice, and goddamn, is her playing intense. In places it sounds almost angry, in others it's sweet and almost cheerful. #2: From the "Myth and Magic" album. A bit more "frilly"--the guy keeps adding little ornaments and stuff--but instead of the usual piano accompaniment, there's a harpsichordist, and I think that's kinda neat. #3: Yami no Matsuei "Akuma no Trill (Metal Version)". From, of course, the Devil's Trill arc. Very tasty. #4: Decca Music Group. Very slow, very sweet. Also the second shortest at just under three minutes. #5: Vanessa-Mae, Remix. The "phone off the hook" noise in the beginning freaks me out. And, as I am a technophile, I always rawk the heck out listening to this one. #6: Vanessa-Mae, straight-up. I dunno whether that's a pipe organ or other violins playing behind her, but yum. She's got mad skillz. #7: Itzhak Perlman. Second-longest at almost fourteen minutes. He takes the opening faster than any of the other artists, and his pacing overall is kind of strange, but it's very expressive, and I like the way he does it. #8: Honestly, I have no idea. It's only part of someone's performance, the shortest one at 1.15, but I'll be damned if it's not my violinist Subaru on that track.
Man, I feel so bad for the poor people who have to be greeters in malls. They have to take so much shit from people.
I saw this poor girl trying to deal with giving people directions around the mall today. I wanted to ask her if I could buy her a cup of coffee or a cookie or something, just to make her day a little easier, because I know that by that point in the afternoon I myself would have been close to tears on account of too many goddamn people milling about and asking things of me.
I think she would have thought I was hitting on her, though.
*sigh*
Also--because a certain someone egged me on, I thought I'd share this. Go ahead and laugh; that's kinda why it's there. ^_~
First we had snow. Now we have rain. And it's really dark outside.
NOOOOO I DON'T WANT IT TO BE FEBRUARY YET.
On the plus side, I'm having a lot of fun with Christmas presents. ^,^ Mostly drawings, but it's fun to go shop for them, too. To look at books and sweaters and knick-knacks and stuff and think of how the person you want to give them to would look when they opened that present. When they were using it.
Yeah, I'm a big holiday sap. ^_^
Also. Over the holiday break? I have a whole bunch of fanfics printed out to read, but recently my mom asked me what kind of books I'd be interested in getting for Christmas... and because I've been working on homeland security stuff with my granddad, I've largely disconnected from books that aren't on foreign policy and domestic security and whatnot.
Anybody got any recs?
Fantasy, non-fiction, children's books, classics, poetry. Tell me what to look for and what to stay away from. I need to make a great big shopping list and haul it to Barnes and Noble.
And now... I stop neglecting Ananda 2, I swear. ^^;;;; *RUNS AWAY*
Pff, I'm a dork. The images on my button were snitched off of the chibi-playing-card images the wonderful Ko scanned a while back. (Ko, d'you want me to put credit for them somewhere?)
So, right, I have a cute little macintosh named Sakurazukamori-chan. She has flowers on her. ^,^ I'm now running OS X with a Subaru wallpaper.
CLAMP? You've made your point.
Seriously. I now have tons of yummy computer goodies and have been moving stuff off the hard drive like there's no tomorrow. And, uh, making things in Photoshop.
