Belatedly, re the new ASUKA installment of X--CLAMP has made me a very happy weird fangirl with Hien's display of badassery. See, I knew she was the spunky one! ^o^ Now if only they'd draw her wearing one of Kanoe's earrings. I'd just die of happy, I really would.

...okay, so I'm going to hell for this.

Happiness is an excuse to make chocolate hot-water cake.
Screw the Oscars, I'm cooking tomorrow night! XD

Overheard while my little sister was on the phone with her friend in China: "And by happy, do you mean-- *pause* Yeah, well, I hope you don't catch that respiratory disease!"
To paraphrase from one of the Sweet Potato Queens books, y'all are out of luck when it comes to little sisters, because I got the best one. XD

America, you may be run by some pretty questionable people right now, but you're basically a really kickin' place.
And, yes, we're at war--this is when (ph33r!) I break out one of my favourite quotes.
"If you stand on a soapbox and trade rhetoric with a dictator you never win. That's what they do so well; they seduce people. But if you ridicule them, bring them down with laughter–they can't win. You show how crazy they are." --Mel Brooks
He was talking about Hitler specifically, but I tend to think that if you can laugh, you win. Period.
...hm, there's a thought. Organise a mass protest in front of the White House where the protesters put on "Springtime For Hitler" (at least what exists of it), possibly with parody lyrics if they can work it. Or, better yet, get the Capitol Steps to have an antiwar benefit concert on, well, the Capitol steps!
VIVA! :D

So, after a very stressful day at work, I get home and there's mail for me.
Back In The Day, my granddad befriended a Japanese guy; they've stayed in touch for a long time, and several years ago the guy gave him a pair of sake cups which have passed to me. And I wrote him a general "hi, I have your cups and think Japan is cool and want to know about you! ^^;" letter.
He wrote back.
(Now all I have to do is figure out how to formulate an articulate reply at least partially in Japanese... ^^; )

Slogged around the city in heels (OW NEVER AGAIN) looking for a job. No "oh my god we'll take you now" offers, but while I took a lunch break I wandered into a music store. (Birthday fics to write = pressing need for mood music. Heehee.)
You know that there's something right with the world when you can get classical music compilations for three dollars.
*has Naxos' babies*
(And, you know, a conversation with Drakos sort of got the ball rolling on a revelation that only really fully bloomed today. Since I tend to make characters into musicians where there isn't much evidence to point to them being as such, she asked if I was a musician. And I remembered, oh yeah, I started playing the piano when I was--maybe nine or ten.
And today I realised, yeah, I miss playing the piano a whole lot. So I'm going back to it. And that makes a happy little rose. ^_^)

Step one: get job.
Step two: convince persons with influence that I have tremendous potential for efficiency and usefulness as a ruiner of souls/personal angel of vengeance.
Step three: retire in peace to Kyoto with stunning wardrobe, intensely interesting life experience, and 100GB hard drive space.
Foolproof plans rock.

...They're so not kidding.
Thing is about this story, though, is that it's so bad you almost can't mock it. It's like a perfect little textbook on how not to write--and even if you don't actually instinctively know at first glance what's wrong with some of it, your brain does the dance of "DOES NOT COMPUTE" immediately.
I'd love to sit in on a reading, though. ^_^ hee.

To take my mind off the fact that there were rather loud drunk people downtown earlier this afternoon--
Skimmer, you write the best cryptic e-mails.
And Drakos, dammit, "Last Rites" made me sniffle. I'll have beta-esque comments for you later, but... *happy angstmonkey Rose*
